Opus Prima, meaning “first” in Latin, is the first collection in the world to bring the traditional copper hammering technique to clad stainless steel, a material beloved by chefs and home cooks for its fast, uniform heat distribution and induction-compatible surface. In true Ruffoni tradition, each piece is hand-hammered by master coppersmiths at the company’s Italian atelier, then polished to a finish that looks as remarkable on the table as it performs on the stovetop. Thanks to its wide bottom and generous sides, the braiser is one of the most versatile pieces in the kitchen. The Opus Prima Braiser is designed to start on the stovetop for searing and browning, then transition seamlessly to the oven for braising, reducing, and gratinating, before arriving at the table ready to serve. Lift the lid for a dramatic reveal, or leave it on during cooking to retain liquid and slowly tenderize tougher cuts. At the core is a thick layer of super-conductive aluminum alloy for exceptional thermal responsiveness. The interior is lined in brushed stainless steel for practical, easy-to-clean performance, while the hammered exterior ensures lasting beauty. Handles are adorned with delicate leaf detailing, and the lid is crowned by a garlic-shaped knob cast in solid bronze and silver plated by partner silversmiths in Milan.
